USB audio card issue with PiPlay.
Interesting. I have an original model B (the one with 256MB ram) and a B+. I've got one hooked to composite out (one of those cheap rear view camera displays from ebay) and one hooked to HDMI with identical performance. Most games were OK wi…

Excellent! Can you tell me what games you see this in, and can you give me some more information about what resolutions you're running? I'll likely see the same problem.

can you get to the console? Plug the ipac in and type 'dmesg' to see that it gets recognized. Don't remember which ipac I'm using, but it shows up as an HID keyboard.

Hi Sancho- what is your hardware setup? On mine, I'm not using the cupcade display; rather I'm using the composite output, so I modified the retrogame.c (specifically in ioStandard[]) key bindings. I don't have the specifics here (a…

Split screen in MAME for cocktail table.
Cocktail games you can set to cocktail mode with the virtual DIP switches in mame4all, but I haven't seen the option to do do it with non-cocktail games.

I assume you're building some arcade-style controls, meaning full size and pretty much indestructible. The source will depend a lot on your location, but I've had some luck with the Suzo-happ ultimate pushbutton. For a good red ball joys…

I've used computer speakers in the past, I had one machine that needed better sound, so I ended up using car speakers, a sub, and a lepai amp. Most of the time I'll use a class D amp like this one: 50W amp You can get smaller, cheaper, l…

That's true- the GPIOs work great- the only drawback to using them is that you need a connector to attach to the GPIO headers. I had a spare IPAC2 laying around from a few years ago, and it has labelled phoenix connectors (screw terminals) to …

Yeah- start here- they're using PiTFT in this product (Cupcade). I plan to do something similar, but I'm using one of those $15 composite LCD backup displays on ebay. There's a tutorial on how to recreate it, and even an image to do…

Sorry I missed this- Sappi- which USB sound card are you using? When do you see that error? I'm using a B+ with a PCM2704 based sound card.

Obviously, it depends on what you want to do. I've got a few of these laying around, and they're good enough for a cool little emulation cabinet. Joysticks Buttons You can find the same buttons for cheap elsewhere. There's some reall…

@sappi: I had the same problem when I first plugged my USB sound card in. Found the solution here: USB Sound on the Rasp. Pi When done, don't forget to fire up alsamixer, switch to your USB sound card with F6, and make sure the volume/mute is…

Hiss on audio, but only when nothing is playing and the sound is active
My PCM2704 board came in yesterday. I can say that without a doubt, I'm happy- the hiss is gone, the sound is great. It wasn't plug N play though- you'll need to follow a guide like this one: enable USB audio on the pi Then after a…

Hiss on audio, but only when nothing is playing and the sound is active
Boosting the master output on ALSA helped- it seems that the hiss is constant volume regardless of ALSA setting, so a volume boost increases S/N ratio. I'm somewhat limited in that regard though, since my amp is based on an ST class D part: ht…

Not seeing quite the same thing. My noise is from both speakers, but when I start, say, Joust, it plays the hiss until I start the first game and the first sound is heard. Then it's gone, but kind of sneaks in now and then when there's s…

I tried on the Model B original (the one that came with 256MB ram) and found the same effect, so it's not a specific hardware thing. I put it in an obvious mode (amp turned up a bit, sound volume turned to 50%) and took this recording while in…
